Neeraj Chopra seized the gold medal in the men's javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships hosted in Budapest, Hungary. Dubbed the 'golden sensation of Indian athletics,' Neeraj carved his name into the annals of history by emerging as the inaugural Indian athlete to capture gold at this esteemed championship. Neeraj's extraordinary feat unfolded in the early hours of August 28 as he vied against a field of international contenders. Exhibiting exceptional prowess, he unleashed a remarkable throw spanning 88.17 meters during his second endeavour, affirming his absolute command throughout the competition. This extraordinary demonstration of skill not only clinched the gold medal for Neeraj but also firmly established him as a pioneering figure for Indian sports on the worldwide arena.

Neeraj clinched the gold during the official podium ceremony held after the day's events concluded, just before the Indian national anthem resonated through the air. Alongside the coveted title, he proudly carried home a substantial cash prize amounting to $70,000, which translates to approximately Rs 58 lakhs (Indian Currency).

In the same event, Nadeem displayed exceptional prowess, securing the silver medal with an impressive throw spanning 87.82 meters. His achievement granted him a cash award of $35,000. Meanwhile, Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic demonstrated remarkable skill, earning the bronze medal with a throw of 86.67 meters. Vadlejch's accomplishment was rewarded with a cash prize of $22,000.

Following in the footsteps of his idol Jan Zelezny and Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen, Neeraj has become only the third javelin thrower to achieve the remarkable feat of securing gold medals in the Continental, Olympic, and World Championships. This exceptional journey began with his victory at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, followed by a triumphant gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and most recently, another remarkable gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

Neeraj's accomplishment is monumental as he emerges as the inaugural Indian javelin thrower to secure gold medals across prestigious platforms, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Olympics, and the World Athletics Championships. His success stands as a testament to his dedication and prowess in the field of javelin throwing.
